Please join us for the opening reception of “ReObjectification” and “Blind Admiration” – two separate solo shows housed at the same, gorgeous gallery: Friesen Abmeyer Fine Art in downtown Seattle. I’m excited to exhibit my newest sculptural vessels, all wheel-thrown and constructed by hand. There are some 91 pieces in my show alone, including collaborative works with painter Jessica Hess, and a brand-spankin-new video projection-on-ceramic piece with multi-media artist David Gantz.
Concurrently, I will be demonstrating how I make these pieces at the national ceramics (NCECA) convention in the Washington State Convention Center, Thursday March 29, from 9am-noon, and Friday March 30, from 1-4pm. Come check it out and say hi!
Last but not least, I made 100 cups (ok, only 96 survived) for Artstream Nomadic Gallery‘s Great Wall of Cups (free coffee all conference long with purchase!) – some of the only utilitarian pots I’ve made this year and last, so come snatch ‘em up while they last. Who knows when the next crop will spring up?
OH – and how could I forget? Come see my unpredictable hula-hooping skills at Studio Potter‘s benefit raffle – time TBA. Guess you’ll have to come find me at the conference and ask! See you SOON!

In a mere three weeks my show goes up at Friesen Abmeyer Fine Art Gallery in Seattle. I’m excited that this show will include my own solo works alongside collaborative pieces with two San Francisco-based artists: painter Jessica Hess (pictured here with our latest creations) and David Gantz, a multi-media artist with whom I’ve designed my first video projection collaboration. Though I never imagined myself working in collaboration with other artists, I am now most inspired by these partnerships and continually amazed by how 1 + 1 can actually = infinity. The sky’s the limit when minds start working together…
Hope to share my enthusiasm about these and other ideas while demonstrating at this year’s NCECA conference in Seattle, March 28-31. Jason Walker and I will be sharing a stage and spilling all our secrets…see you in the front row?
What an honor – I’ve been invited to demonstrate at this year’s national ceramic arts conference, NCECA, scheduled for March 28-31 in Seattle. I’ve been in attendance at nearly every NCECA since 1991 - 20 years now – so it’s an exciting thought to imagine myself hamming it up on the main stage. AND I’ll be joined by Jason Walker (same stage – very cool!) and my clay heroes, Walter Keeler and Tip Toland. Fantastic! Jason Walker and I will also be presenting solo exhibitions side by side at the fabulous Friesen Abmeyer Fine Art Gallery in downtown Seattle. Stay tuned for more details announcing that event.
Hope to see you at the conference – come introduce yourself and say hi…don’t be shy,
xo

Is it possible to be nostalgic for something that finished just two weeks ago? Apparently so, as I am feeling sappy-sad for my much-anticipated, now-past workshop at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, CO. We had so much fun! I know I am speaking for my whole class here, but honestly, we bonded. No one wanted to go home.
I was also most fortunate to have a very successful show at the fabulous Harvey Meadows Gallery in Aspen Highlands Center. I think there are a few pieces still available – thanks to Alleghany and Sam for rockin’ it for me!
I sure hope I’ll get invited back – missing you, Aspen/Snowmass… xox christa
It is a high honor to be showing along side Mr. Brad Miller! Thanks to Alleghany and Sam for the exciting double bill at Harvey Meadows Gallery, and to Beth for her gorgeous poster design. Can’t wait to see you all on Aug. 22 – I arrive in Aspen the day before to lead a 2-week workshop on Teapots at Anderson Ranch Arts Center, so watch out Rockies, here I come!
I have to admit, I’ve had a pretty relaxing summer so far – no serious responsibilities, lots of croquet and cocktails, but oh yes – some new art on the horizon! (stay tuned)
Soon I head to Anderson Ranch Arts Center, tucked away in the Rockies in gorgeous Snowmass Village, CO, to lead a 2-week workshop on teapots. There’s probably still room left for one or two of you out there…and if you need a little encouragement, here’s one of my all-time favorite workshop pics (this one is from last year’s class at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts). This particular group was all-star material, right down to my amazing assistant, Mr. Josh Copus. Josh and I surprised the class with our hokey, “Corny as a Uni-horn” tees from downtown Gatlinburg…and they surprised us by having their shirts airbrushed to match! Here’s to you guys!

On Wednesday I hop onto yet another jet plane – this one headed for Mobile, Alabama (my first visit to this great state!) to demonstrate at the Alabama Clay Conference. Word on the streets is that this is a VERY fun conference – I heard from a reliable source that it’s even MORE fun than a certain other ceramic conference coming up (which I also will attend, but will not be presenting)…SO, get yourself registered before they run out of space, and join this more intimate-sized event that is certain to rock your world!
An opportunity not to be missed: our friend Forrest demonstrates his favorite ceramic techniques while hanging out with us all day at Fourth & Clay! Space is still available – we’d love to see you.
