Ferrin Gallery: Studio Pottery Invitational

Filed under: events, exhibitions, images — christaassad @ 2:41 pm

I am very excited to be a part of this fabulous functional ceramics exhibition, up October 17 – November 14, 2009. You can preview the show online already – and I have a few brand-new ideas debuting…click here to see! My potter-friend, Mark Shapiro, doesn’t know this, but this new cup form was designed just for him. You see, when I visited Mark’s awesome Stonepool Pottery (an enviable lifestyle including studio/farm/gallery) back in July, he let me take home a gorgeous cup I was fondling…and in return he just mentioned that he liked, “small tea cups”. Hmmm. I had to try really hard to make a small tea cup, as most of my cups are pretty gigantic! So, here’s the new look – and only 3 inches tall…hope you like yours, Mark!

  1. Christa – not only do I love the work you sent us and may have to acquire that pitcher for the kitchen collection I started so many eons ago – but I love that you came East, you visited, you made this cup based on your experience and you’re coming back next year to be our featured guest artist for Locally Thrown / Locally Grown. Your August whirling dervish visit was transformative!
